What it's like to work with me

The best way to understand coaching is often through the experiences of those who have been through it.

Here are a few reflections from clients about what it was like to work together and what changed as a result.

Richard combines empathy with real challenge. He creates a space where you feel understood, but he will not let you stay vague or comfortable.

Richard had an uncanny ability to get to the real crux of the issues we discussed, helping me discover things about myself that I hadn’t fully realised before.

I came to Richard feeling really stuck - lacking confidence at work and carrying stress from my personal life that I hadn't even acknowledged or addressed. I was curious whether coaching could help me find direction. From my very first session, I knew Richard would help me make positive changes in my life.

Richard has a way of making you feel truly heard. He is warm, perceptive, and incredibly easy to talk to, which enabled me to open up in a way I hadn't expected, or realised the value of. Through our work together, I began to see my own worth, both professionally and personally. We worked on a variety of issues, and Richard was always able to offer a different perspective. What started as a conversation about imposter syndrome led to a real journey of self-discovery. I began to view challenges differently, feel less overwhelmed, and trust my own instincts more than ever before.

I think this kind of coaching could benefit anyone at a crossroads in their life, whether facing a major life change or simply going through the motions. It's especially valuable for someone who feels stuck, overwhelmed, lacking in confidence, or in need of direction. Richard creates a safe space to reflect, gain clarity, and move forward with confidence and purpose.

Working together shifted both my thinking and how I show up day to day. I came in wanting to make progress in three areas: advocating more effectively for my own career growth, setting clearer boundaries around workload, and creating better balance with personal development and family time.

A key part of the impact was mindset. Through our sessions, I learned to reframe how I approached challenges. A simple but powerful example was how I thought about learning French. I moved from “I need to do this,” rooted in pressure, to “I want to do this,” grounded in opportunity. That shift changed how I engage not just with that goal, but with many others.

Richard combines empathy with real challenge. He creates a space where you feel understood, but he will not let you stay vague or comfortable. He pushes you to be precise and intentional in how you think and act.

This kind of coaching is particularly valuable for people who are already performing well but need to evolve how they think, prioritise, and advocate for themselves to operate at a higher level, without burning out in the process.

Working with Richard was exceptionally thought provoking, but always in a calm and gentle way. He had an uncanny ability to get to the real crux of the issues we discussed, often helping me realise things about myself that I hadn’t fully seen before.

It felt like opening Pandora’s box in the best possible sense. Once those insights were uncovered, they became practical tools that I now use in day-to-day life and decision-making.

I would recommend this kind of coaching to anyone looking to move forward in life or navigate a particular situation more clearly. What stood out was that I was never simply told the answer. Through thoughtful conversation and exploration, I was able to discover my own way forward and develop approaches that genuinely fit me and the situations I was facing.
