What this work is about
I work with people who are progressing in their careers and lives, but not always in a direction that feels right.
Sometimes things are going well, but something doesn’t quite sit right. Other times they feel stuck and know something needs to change, but can’t yet see what that is or how to move forward. In both cases, it’s rarely about capability. It’s more often about how they’re thinking, what’s driving their decisions, and what might be getting in the way underneath.
How I think about this work
Most people assume they need a plan, more accountability, or clearer goals. In my experience, that’s usually not the issue.
People tend to already have a sense of what matters. What’s missing is the space to actually see it clearly.
That means looking beyond the surface of the situation and understanding what’s shaping their thinking, including the assumptions they’re making, the patterns they repeat, and the stories they tell themselves about who they are and what they can or can’t do.
When that becomes clearer, decisions tend to become simpler, and the next step is often more obvious than it first appeared.
My background
My work is shaped by over 20 years in commercial and sales environments where expectations are high, performance is measured, and decisions have real consequences.
I co-lead a recruitment business, alongside a background in sales, commercial and marketing roles across technology and audio brands. I understand what it means to operate under pressure, carry responsibility, and be accountable for outcomes.
Coaching is now my primary work. That commercial experience helps at the outset, particularly in understanding context. But once the work begins, it becomes much less relevant. The focus shifts quickly to the individual, how they think, how they operate, and what's actually going on for them, because that's where the real work is done.
What it’s like to work with me
People tend to feel at ease quite quickly. Many clients say it feels like they’ve known me for a long time, which matters because it creates the space for honest thinking.
At the same time, the work isn’t passive.
I listen carefully, not just to what’s said but to what isn’t, to the words people use, and to the patterns underneath them. At times I’ll challenge directly, asking questions like “Is that actually true?”, “Is that what happened, or how you’re choosing to see it?”, or “Which of these thoughts are real?”
At other points, the work is simply about slowing things down enough for something to become clearer. That might mean letting someone talk uninterrupted, or reflecting something back that they hadn’t quite noticed. That’s often where things shift.
It’s not unusual for someone to leave a first session with more clarity than they expected, and a lot to think about.
Professional standards
I trained as a coach with the Animas Centre for Coaching in London, specialising in transformational coaching. This approach focuses on how you think, rather than just what you do, and supports more lasting change in how you approach decisions, leadership, and direction.
I work to the International Coaching Federation Code of Ethics, maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and clear boundaries in all coaching relationships.
